Where it all started and where we are now.The Launceston Social Basketball competition began on a Tuesday evening at Launceston College in October 2001 with a small Mens roster conducted by PlaySport Enterprises.
In the Winter of 2002 it moved to the University of Tasmania Gym at Mowbray, again a Mens only roster.The Summer of 2003 saw a move to the Elphin Sports Centre and the introduction of Mixed and Womens rosters joining the Men and by the Summer of 2007 over 70 teams were participating in five divisions.
The Summer and Winter competitions have continued to grow and now have a regular following of teams who favour the system of "pay as you play" , without the added comitment of having to officiate as well as play.The flexibility in rostering that enables teams to "join at anytime "and be able to nominate their "preferred playing times", has aided the competitions development.
The continued growth in Men, Mixed and Womens rosters has Monday and Tuesday nights regularly full at the Elphin Sports Centre in Summer and Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the Elphin Sports Centre,Grammar and Launceston College in Winter.
PlaySport Enterprises with the support of a loyal group of referees have made a regular commitment to the competition to ensure its ongoing success and development.
This web site enables teams to check game times, keep up to date with results and view ladders, as well as new teams being able to join online.All the relevant competition details are displayed and online enquiries are welcome.
